‘Kapala’, meaning ‘to stamp or imprint’ is the method used to create patterns onto kapa (traditional bark cloth). ‘Ohe Kapala are the bamboo tools used, depicted here with sea urchin, fish bones, shark teeth and other designs! Printed on 100% cotton broadcloth and made with aloha in Hawai’i.
Our cotton broadcloth is a durable woven fabric. By having the reverse side of the fabric facing out, the prints' motifs and colors are softened. Special care is taken when printing to ensure quality and uniformity.
